HO CHI MINH - MEKONG DELTA - HOI AN - HUE - HANOI - SA PA - HALONG - LUANG PRABANG - SIEM REAP - PHNOM PENH - KOH SAMET

A 20 old days wonderful exploration of the best of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand : from boyant Mekong Delta to marvellous Halong Bay, mysterious Luang Prabang, awesone Angkor Ruins, and finally idyllic Koh Samet beach.

Day 1 : Arrival in HO CHI MINH. Transfer to hotel.

 

Day 2 : HO CHI MINH / MEKONG DELTA / HO CHI MINH            (D)

Leave early in the morning for Delta of Mekong.  Ride in the barques equipped for 2-4 people to better move along and in between the floating markets. Discover the Arroyos.  Stop in a small village by horse-drawn carriage. Stop to fish in the local waters. At 19.00 pm train to Danang

 

Day 3 : DANANG / HOI AN                                                        (D)

Arrive in Danang at 12.00 am. Transfer at Hoi An.

Visit Hoi An by bike.  If weather permitting, visit Cua Dai Beach (4km from Hoi An)

 

Day 4 : HOI AN / HUE (150km-3h30 / Hanoi                               (B,L,D)

Very early in the morning, transfer between Hoi and Hue via Lang Co Beach. Stop at the Elephant Cascades: to swim and fish.  Visit the city by cruise on the Perfume River and the Emperors Tombs by bus. At 1630 pm take a sleeper train to Hanoi

 

Day 5 : Arrive in Hanoi - Sleeper train to Lao Cai                    (B,L,D)

Transfer to Hanoi and visit the old section of the city by bicycle.  Shopping in Dong Xuan Market.

At 9.00 pm, take a sleeper train to Sapa

 

Day 6 : SAPA / LAO CAI / TAPHIN                                            (B,L,D)

Discover the ancient and ethnic villages and market. Trek

 

Day 7 : SAPA / TA VAN / HANOI                                               (B,L,D)

Discover the ancient and ethnic villages and market. Train at 2030. Arrive in Hanoi at 04h30

 

Day 8 : HANOI / HALONG (180km)                                            (B,L,D)

Arrive in Hanoi at 0430. Transfer to Halong Bay in the morning.  At 12h00, cruise in Halong Bay on a deluxe Junk. Visit of one cave. Visit a fishers village and kayaking.  Dinner and spend a night on the junk.

 

Day 9 : HALONG - NINH BINH                                                   (B,L,D)

Morning, breakfast on the junk and continue the cruise in another part of Halong Bay . After lunch, transfer to Ninh Binh. Arrive at Trang An Visit the rice fields in Hoa Lu, bicycle ride between Hoa Lu and Tam Coc. Overnight in hotel  The Long  overlooking the Dry Halong Bay  (Tam Coc).

 

Day 10 : NINH BINH / HANOI - flight to LUANGPRABANG          (B,L,D)

Cruise by sampan (small boat moving by rows)  on Dry Halong Bay ( Tam Coc) . After lunch , return to Hanoi and and transfer directly to Noi Bai airport for the flight Hanoi/Luang Prabang by Lao Airlines QV323 ( 18h.25 - 19h.25). Welcome by Laotian guide at Luang Prabang airport and transfer to hotel for overnight.

 

Day 11 : LUANGPRABANG Visit the city                                   (B,L,D)

Luang Prabang has been claimed by the UNESCO to be ‘the best preserved city in South East Asia’. During our time here, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai; we then climb up to the top of mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset and the Mekong River. From there, we explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textile made by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

 

Day 12 : LUANG PRABANG                                                      (B,L,D)

An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession. From there you will visit the morning Phosi Market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, Hmong Village, Ban Ou, Laoloum Village and Ban Thapene, Khmu Village including an elephant ride. Then drive to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the turquoise pools or walk along the forest trails. After returning to Luang Prabang by late afternoon, we continue to Ban Xangkhong, a village well known for its silk weavings and for its Saa (jute) Papermaking. We return to the city by late evening to observe the sunset at Wat Siphouthabath.

 

Day 13 : LUANGPRABANG / SIEMP REAP                                (BD)

Fly at 1035 with Vietnam Airlines. Upon arrival, pick up and transfer to the hotel check in. The same afternoon, excursion on Lake Tonle Sap to visit the floating village and flooded forest at Mechreay, then continue to discover The jungle covered temple of Ta Prohm is an incredible sight. There are enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers which embrace themselves in the stone foundations of the structure giving the impression of man's creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature. We will finish our day with the lastw visit to Phnom Bakeng to admire the sun setting. Overnigt at hotel in Siem Reap

 

Day 14 : ANGKOR                                                                     (BL)

Breakfast at the hotel. The sightseeing tour of Angkor area we spend a full day exploring the wondrous ancient ruins with the South Gate of Angkor Thom, which is famous for its series of colossal human faces carved in stone, the impressive Bayon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and the largest as well as the most complete temple of Angkor Wat. This architectural masterpiece was constructed in the 12th century and covers an area of about 210 hectares. We stroll around this massive edifice, seeing the many galleries with colums, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water reflecting the towering temple and Sras Srang. Overnight in Siem Reap

 

Day 15 : ANGKOR / SIEMP REAP                                              (BL)

Breakfast at hotel, Heading out of town we make our way by traveling on a newly paved road to the intricately carved and well preserved temple of Banteay Srei. Along the way we make stopover at the Preah Dark village and we follow these with a visit the Banteay Samre Temple adorned with impressive relief’s depicting scenes of Vishunu as well as Krishna legends. On the way back, we will also visit the grand circuit with Preah Khan, Kravan, Neak Pean, Krol Ko, Ta Som, East Mebon and Pre Rup Temples. Overnight in Siem Reap

 

Day 16 : SIEMP REAP / PHNOM PENH                                      (B)

Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the bus station for your 6 hrs journey to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, pick up and transfer to the hotel check in. The same afternoon, visiting Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda and Wat Phnom. Overnight at hotel in Phnom Penh

 

Day 17 : PHNOM PENH /BANGKOK                                           (B)

Breakfast at the hotel: Transfer to the airport for the flight departure with Thai Airways

Phnom Penh/Bangkok :TG581 1005 – 11:10 am. Pick-up at airport and transfer by private car directly to Koh Samet. Overnight in Koh Samet.

Free time at beach. Overnight in hotel in Koh Samet .
